Framed katazome print, Franciscana Dolphin on linen
Made in Dunedin by Among the Sparrows
Franciscana Dolphin art print on linen in wooden frame.
This beautiful image of a dolphin skeleton on linen is made using a Japanese print technique called Katazome. First I drew and hand cut a stencil of the dolphin, then I printed the skeleton with a hand made rice paste resist. After that dried I overpainted the skeleton with dye, later walking the dye and resist out to leave the skeleton print on the linen. I then over painted the shadows on the skeleton and washed the print again. Framed in my studio.
