WORKSHOP - Introduction to drypoint with Kyla Cresswell, Saturday 29th March

$95.00

Introduction to drypoint with Kyla Cresswel

Saturday 29 March
1pm - 4pm (3 hours)
201 North Road, North East Valley, Dunedin

In this introductory drypoint course you will learn drypoint, an intaglio printmaking process which is similar to etching, but produced by handheld sharp tools rather than chemicals. You will scratch an image directly into a plate using a variety of specialist tools. With drypoint is is possible to achieve a wonderfully lively and sometimes fuzzy, velvety line and a whole range of subtle marks too.

This process will cover how to use the tools to create your drawing, how to ink up your plate and how to print this on a heavyweight printmaking paper.

The plate creates a burr which gives a different feeling to the line from the likes of tetra pak printmaking.

Images will be available in the class for your use.

It is optional to bring your own drawing or photo to work from, but the image size needs to be 100 x 150mm max. (If it matters to you, please be aware this image gets reversed in the printing process. To avoid this, bring your source image reversed. You can ask a copy shop or ink jet printer to ‘flip’ or ‘mirror’ image your source imagery in advance of the class.)

No experience necessary - come be beguiled by the burr!

Morning tea provided.
